Even though when I was in school computers were just coming into the picture and I did not want to have anything to do with them; I found myself working on them for the past 26 years at my job. I had to pretty much learn everything on my own. From the first day of trying to get the mouse to stop moving all over the screen to learning multiple different programs, the journey has been memorable. But the Technology class at Trinity Christian College put me to shame as I had no idea that there were so many incredible digital learning tools out there. I had seen the Skype learning and had many on-line classes where there would be video-recorded lessons, but I had no idea how the teacher programmed them.
This class has shown me so many different methods to do so. I plan on utilizing the Sreencastify and Nearpods, where I can record a presentation of an art process. This would be an excellent opportunity to delve deep into the process with great detail and provide numerous examples the students could use for their projects without me having to repeat the process for every classroom.
The students would have a greater understanding of the project because I could spend more time in all the phases and cut out portions to get the completed works.
I plan on looking into more programs and ideas through Twitter. There are some excellent art teachers out there with terrific ideas that they are working on with their students that would be a tremendous help. Not only can you view their posts about the work they are doing but you can also give input, ask a question and get advice from other art professionals which is a huge advantage of the times we live in today. Technology in Education has really brought learning to a completely new and exciting level and I am happy it was available to me. I cannot wait to learn more art programs that I can share with my students.

I found this very inspiring post on twitter from Edgewood Library talking about kindergarteners creating and illustrating their own "How To" books in the @BookCreatorApp. I thought, "WOW kindergarteners"! Using technology in a way to broaden their mind by making up a story and imagining what that story would look like in illustrations and then writing their story and bringing it to life from their imagination. I'm sure the teachers and parents are very proud of them and they should be of themselves as well.

What kind of learner am I? Will Flipped learning work for me?

I am a visual learner. I always look at the instructor when she/he is speaking. It helps me focus on what she/he is saying. I told my children to do the same when they were in school. I also learn with a visual aid, for instance, a video presentation, film, or demonstration. I had several on-line courses, and there is often a recorded lesson, by video, or audio, and you have a completion schedule, but you basically work on your own. There are several reasons why I like this idea.
1. All students learn differently and with different paces.
2. You can rewind and review the instruction.
There's one negative thing that may be difficult for some students. It's that they have to complete this type of instruction on their own time, out of school. I realize teachers give homework, but the only way I believe this would work is if it offered only once or twice a week. It would be beneficial to issue work that would take several days to reflect on the studies.
With further thought, Flipped would be a positive learning method for me, and I plan on using this or Nearpods for instruction when I become a teacher.

Does technology belong in the classroom?

Even though when I was in school the computer was something very new. I never took any classes with computers, but now in school it is a daily activity. Teachers need to learn everything they can in order to prepare their students in every possible avenue. There are so many good things about technology in computers but many that can be bad. In order to know what your kids are learning and reading the teacher and even the parent needs to learn how to navigate around different web sites.
